Ratatan Episode 3 locked even though every melody looks collected?

This can be a confirmed progression bug. The developer says the Bonboya Gate can show melodies as collected before the required Dark Ratatan encounters are satisfied. The same notice says the game does not currently show which encounters remain.
As of our October 17, 2026 review, the fix is announced work, not a verified released solution. Do not erase your progress on the assumption that a new save fixes it.
Does your symptom match the notice?
The matching situation is specific: you are trying to enter Episode 3, the gate display appears complete, and progression still does not open. That combination is more informative than saying simply that the game is stuck.
If your problem is a crash, missing DLC or an online disconnection, keep it separate. A notice about one symptom is not evidence that every other failure shares its cause. Write down what the game actually shows before choosing advice.
What to do now
- Record the version and platform. Use the version information your installation provides. A patch arriving on another platform is not proof that your own copy has received it.
- Check the newest developer patch notes. Look for an explicit Episode 3 or Bonboya Gate correction. A newer version number alone does not establish that this particular issue was addressed.
- Preserve the current evidence. Capture the gate display and the blocked transition, and note whether this save began during Early Access or after full release. That history is context for a report, not a diagnosis by itself.
- Keep a safe recovery point. Avoid deleting saves, replacing files or following an unverified console instruction merely to test a claim. Make sure you understand the platform’s normal save recovery process before changing stored progress.
- Use the developer’s own reporting route if needed. Open the feedback link from the official notice and describe the reproducible symptom. Do not post account credentials or private files to an unrelated guide’s comment section.
Should you repeat every Dark Ratatan encounter?
The notice identifies an unmet encounter requirement behind the misleading display, but does not provide a per-save checklist that tells you exactly what to repeat. We therefore do not supply an invented encounter count or promise that one named replay will unlock your save.
If you continue playing, keep a simple record of the encounters you complete and the resulting gate state. Change one variable at a time so the result is useful. That is a way to document behavior, not a guaranteed workaround; do not turn an uncertain experiment into hours of mandatory grinding.
“A fix is planned” versus “my build contains the fix”
Before changing your route, verify the actual release note on your platform. A planned maintenance window is a forecast. It can move, and the deployed build may differ across platforms. When a patch explicitly addresses this blocker, record its version, install it normally, and check the same transition again before trying more invasive recovery steps.
After an update, a useful report distinguishes three outcomes: the existing save now opens Episode 3; the display changed but progression remains blocked; or nothing observable changed. Avoid calling the issue resolved from the download completing alone.

Fill only what you know. “Unsure” is more useful than an invented version or encounter history. Keep any save upload within the developer’s official support process and review the requested files before sending.
