How to get the Galaxy Sword at the Three Pillars
On this page
Hold a Prismatic Shard and walk onto the center tile between the Three Pillars in the northeast of Calico Desert. The event consumes the shard and gives you the Galaxy Sword. Putting the shard in your bag without selecting it will not trigger the exchange.

Reach the desert with one shard still in your bag
For the normal first trip, repair the bus through the Community Center’s Vault bundles or the Joja bus-repair project. Bring your Prismatic Shard with you. Donating one to the museum does not unlock the weapon, and a donated shard cannot also be spent at the pillars.
The first sword comes from this event, not from a 50,000g shop purchase. That price becomes relevant only after you have unlocked it. The Skull Key opens Skull Cavern, but entering Skull Cavern is not part of the pillar interaction.

Walk into the space between the pillars
- From the desert arrival area, head toward the northeast corner. Look for the three tall columns, not the dragon skeleton north of the Oasis.
- Select the Prismatic Shard in the toolbar so your character is visibly holding it.
- Walk onto the centermost tile between all three columns. You are not placing the shard on one of the columns.
- Wait for the event to finish, then check your inventory for the Galaxy Sword.

If nothing happens, move off the middle tile, select the shard again and walk back in. Confirm the item’s name before trying more elaborate fixes. The old wallpaper replacement trick was removed in version 1.4 and is not a working method for a 1.6 save.
The graveyard clue is optional
The rightmost gravestone in Pelican Town contains the in-game clue. To read it, donate all four Dwarf Scrolls to the museum and collect the Dwarvish Translation Guide reward. Learning the language reveals the hint; it does not supply the shard.

If you already know the solution, there is no need to delay the sword until all four scrolls turn up. Likewise, decoding the headstone does not mean you must carry the Translation Guide as a consumable item.
No shard yet? Avoid turning a rare drop into a daily promise
Mystic Stones, Iridium Nodes and Omni Geodes can yield Prismatic Shards, but none guarantees one from a single attempt. A first visit to the chest at the top of the Volcano Dungeon supplies one, although getting there is a much later commitment than a quick bus ride. A Crystalarium cannot duplicate a Prismatic Shard.
If your current weapon is making mine trips difficult, save your first shard for the sword and leave the museum donation for a later find. If you already have a weapon you like, you may prefer to keep it for another purpose, such as enchanting.
Keep the unlock; buy another sword if needed
The Galaxy Sword starts with 60–80 damage and +4 Speed. Receiving it also unlocks the Galaxy Dagger and Galaxy Hammer at the Adventurer’s Guild. You cannot keep feeding the pillars more shards for more swords; after the first unlock, Marlon sells a replacement Galaxy Sword for 50,000g.
The Infinity Blade is the later continuation of this weapon, not a second pillar reward. Its Forge conversion uses three Galaxy Souls and a total of 60 Cinder Shards.
