For each material, multiply the amount per craft by your planned craft count, then subtract stock without allowing a negative missing amount.

Generic mathematical model, not a named game’s simulator. All starting values are invented examples. Supply verified values for your game and check the assumptions below.

Your scenario

JavaScript is required for interactive calculation. The formula and example below remain readable without it.

Formula and units

Required material = per-craft amount × craft count. Missing = max(0, required − owned). Crafts supported by stock = min over materials of floor(owned / per-craft amount).

Worked example

Five crafts requiring three Iron and two Wood each need fifteen Iron and ten Wood. With four Iron and twenty Wood in stock, you still need eleven Iron and no Wood. Current stock supports one complete craft because Iron is the bottleneck.

How to use this comparison

Use one line for each unique ingredient and combine duplicate names first. Enter amounts per completed craft. If the game makes several outputs per action, decide whether your craft count means actions or individual outputs, then keep the per-craft quantities consistent.

Read the result correctly

The stock-supported count answers a different question from the planned deficit: it tells you what can be made now. The leftover column assumes you acquire any missing materials and complete the requested batch. Excess stock in one material cannot replace a shortage in another.

Model boundaries

This is a single-level recipe worksheet, not a recipe database. There are no material substitutions, batch yield bonuses, partial refunds, quality tiers or nested ingredient expansion. Each line uses your own chosen unit; chart bars are quantities, not comparable market values.

Method: original arithmetic implementation and editorial examples reviewed October 16, 2026. Outputs follow the displayed formula and your inputs. We have not tested these mechanics inside a particular game.
