The 2.0 Snap Hook changes are 18m range, 4% durability use and 60 power per use, replacing 20m, 2% and 50. The developer frames it as a more committed burst-mobility tool alongside the new Grappling Hook, rather than a simple linear upgrade path.

Choose the movement task before selecting a gadget. Closing one gap quickly, climbing to a ledge and following a swinging route can require different handling. A familiar attachment point from an old recording can fail when its assumed reach no longer matches the item.

What to do, in order

  1. Measure the intended route against the current tool, rather than assuming the previous 20m reach. Leave a recovery option when the attachment is near the limit.
  2. Inspect the current power state before a chain of moves. Do not assume the old immediate back-to-back sequence still works.
  3. Account for durability before committing to a route that has no practical return. Keep unrelated damage and later repairs separate from the per-use comparison.
  4. For Grappling Hook traversal, review the current rope, ledge and attachment behavior. The 2.1 update improves several vaulting and detachment interactions.

What the cost changes mean on paper

The range is 10% shorter: the lost 2m is one tenth of the old 20m. Power cost increases 20%, from 50 to 60. Per-use durability consumption doubles from 2% to 4%. In a simplified full-condition budget with no other wear, 100 divided by 4 gives 25 uses rather than 50. That division is a planning illustration, not a guarantee of usable durability in every situation.

A practical way to apply the rule

Write the route as separate movements, each with a valid attachment and landing. Check power before the next move rather than multiplying the number of intended jumps by an old cost. If the plan depends on an immediate second use, rebuild it around the current recharge and item behavior shown in your game.

Common misreadings and failure checks

The ledge is visible but the hook does not reach

Compare the actual distance with the changed range and device type.

The first move works, the second does not

Inspect power and timing before treating the attachment as the only issue.

The hook breaks at a moving object or ledge

Review the 2.1 Grappling Hook fixes and confirm which tool the route uses.
