Drow Multishot deals damage but no slow: why both can be true
On this page
The current Multishot notes separate arrow base damage from Frost Arrows’ extra damage and slow. Base arrow damage can affect magic-immune enemies while the Frost Arrows damage and slow do not.

Do not diagnose every missing slow as a missed arrow. A composite ability can have one component apply and another component fail against the same target state.
What to do, in order
- Confirm whether the target actually took arrow damage before calling the entire cast a miss.
- Check the target’s defensive state and distinguish base arrow damage from the Frost Arrows component.
- When a slow does not apply, stop relying on it to hold the target in your next salvo. Aim using the movement you actually see.
- Keep the cast active if you want its remaining salvos, while using the movement and item actions the current description allows.
- Review the whole sequence: hit, damage component, slow component and channel duration are separate checks.
Match the symptom to the cause
The health bar moved but the enemy kept moving normally
That can be consistent with the official split between base damage and Frost Arrows effects. Damage alone does not prove the slow applied.
I thought Drow had to stand completely still
The current description says Drow can move slowly and use items during Multishot. Do not follow an older stationary-only instruction without checking the client.
I assumed every arrow hits one target
The listed wave and arrow counts describe the cast, not a guarantee that every projectile damages your chosen enemy.

Apply it to one concrete situation
An enemy crosses your cone under a state that excludes the Frost Arrows slow. If arrows still damage them, lead the next salvo based on their actual movement. Waiting for a slow that did not apply can make the remaining cast miss.
Current base tooltip values
Values below are the unmodified fields in Valve’s dated English ability data. Slash-separated entries are listed level values, not a recommended skill build. Read the field label: damage, range, duration and percentages have different meanings. Upgrades and modifiers can change your client’s values.
| Tooltip field | Listed base value(s) |
|---|---|
| Mana cost | 70 / 85 / 100 / 115 |
| Cooldown (seconds) | 24 / 21 / 18 / 15 |
| WAVE COUNT | 3 |
| ARROWS PER WAVE | 4 |
| ARROW BASE DAMAGE BONUS | 80 / 100 / 120 / 140% |
| MOVEMENT SPEED PENALTY | 35% |
Limits that matter
Valve’s notes use the term magic immunity for this interaction. This guide reports those component-specific notes without asserting a universal rule for every other immunity or damage modifier.

How many waves are in the base cast?
The dated data lists three waves and four arrows per wave. This is not twelve guaranteed hits on a single hero.
Can I use items while Multishot is active?
The current ability description explicitly allows item use while casting; each item still has its own restrictions.
