Burrowstrike moves Sand King through the ground and stuns enemies he hits. The current official description offers an alternate cast that immediately uses the chosen direction without first walking toward the selected location.

Practise the decision step by step

  1. Test normal targeting and alternate casting separately before using either in a fight.
  2. Check whether you want a precise endpoint or an immediate directional action.
  3. Line up enemies along the intended movement without assuming a schematic shows the live cast range.
  4. After surfacing, reassess your position and enemy detection before relying on Sand Storm’s invisibility.

The mistake to look for

Unexpected movement can come from a different cast mode rather than a broken ability. Sand Storm’s protection also depends on remaining in its area under the documented current rules.

A controlled demo exercise

Use a clear demo area and compare normal and alternate casts aimed beyond your current reach. Watch whether Sand King walks before the cast and where he actually emerges.

Keep the setup consistent between attempts: same hero state, same target arrangement and the same abilities available. Change one decision, observe the outcome, then repeat. If an item, upgrade or new patch changes the ability, read that effect before comparing the attempts.

Use this in a real match

Before acting, name the immediate objective: control a target, protect an ally, maintain position or create a damage opportunity. After the fight, review whether your chosen action produced that objective. The outcome of the match alone does not tell you which part of the sequence worked.

This page is a focused mechanics lesson. It does not supply a universal item build, talent order, exact timing script or ranked win-rate claim. Team composition, items and current balance changes can alter the best choice.
