Zeus Lightning Bolt: use vision as well as damage

Lightning Bolt provides brief vision and True Sight around its target area and can be aimed at the ground. That information is temporary, not a replacement for continuous vision.

Practise the decision step by step

  1. Identify the specific area you need to inspect rather than casting without a question in mind.
  2. Use the ground-target option to examine a location according to the current ability’s targeting rules.
  3. Have your team ready to use the revealed information while it is available.
  4. Separate revealing a threat from safely approaching it; information does not remove an enemy’s ability to attack you.

The mistake to look for

Treating a brief reveal as permanent map control can lead to a blind chase after it expires. Do not assume every hidden unit is inside the spell’s reveal area.

A controlled demo exercise

In demo mode, test a unit-target cast and a ground-target cast separately. Observe the reveal area and how long the useful information remains visible in your current client.

Keep the setup consistent between attempts: same hero state, same target arrangement and the same abilities available. Change one decision, observe the outcome, then repeat. If an item, upgrade or new patch changes the ability, read that effect before comparing the attempts.

Use this in a real match

Before acting, name the immediate objective: control a target, protect an ally, maintain position or create a damage opportunity. After the fight, review whether your chosen action produced that objective. The outcome of the match alone does not tell you which part of the sequence worked.

This page is a focused mechanics lesson. It does not supply a universal item build, talent order, exact timing script or ranked win-rate claim. Team composition, items and current balance changes can alter the best choice.
