Monster Hunter Wilds Armor Transcend: HR 100, Upgrade Caps and Rarity 5/6 Slots

At HR 100 or higher, high-rank armor can use Transcending through Smithy → Forge/Upgrade Armor → Transcend. It raises the Armor Sphere upgrade limit. Rarity 5 armor gets three slots upgraded and Rarity 6 gets two, with existing level-3 slots excluded from slot upgrading.

Check in this order
- Confirm HR 100 and identify the high-rank armor piece you want to keep.
- Use the armor Transcend menu rather than Gogma Artian Reinforcement, which is a weapon system.
- Read the piece’s actual slot result. Keep existing level-3 slots separate from the slots being upgraded.
- Recheck decorations, skill levels and the remaining Armor Sphere upgrade budget before replacing the rest of the set.
Slot improvements can change an equipment decision
An older piece with useful skills may deserve another comparison after its available enhancement. Do not judge only its original socket pattern against a newer piece. Compare the actual enhanced candidate, the skill thresholds it preserves and the resources required to reach the defense you intend.
Do not assume every slot becomes level 3
The manual specifies which rarity groups receive slot upgrades and excludes already-max-level slots. It does not turn that into a promise that every socket on every piece becomes level 3. Inspect the preview instead of building a full decoration list around an assumed result.
The decoration category still matters
A larger armor socket is still an armor socket. It does not accept a weapon-only decoration merely because the numeric level is high enough. After enhancing, apply the same category and level checks used in an ordinary equipment plan.
Choose the next resource expenditure
If the build lacks a legal slot for a particular decoration, inspect whether this enhancement solves that exact requirement. If survivability is the issue, review the upgraded defense and your ability to afford the remaining improvements. Extra capacity for future Armor Sphere upgrades is not the same as already having paid for all of them.
