Wilds Bow Tracers and Coatings: Manage Trick Arrow Gauge and Dodge Recovery
On this page
Tracers and coatings consume Trick Arrow Gauge when loaded. Landed attacks and successful Discerning Dodges refill it. Selecting a coating is not the same action as applying it, so check both the active effect and resource state before treating an unchanged shot as a broken coating.

Check in this order
- Read Trick Arrow Gauge before loading a Tracer or coating.
- Select the desired coating, then perform Apply Coating. Confirm the active selection rather than just highlighting the item.
- For Tracer play, land the Tracer and use the tracking window while it remains active.
- Use Discerning Dodge only with the required timing against a monster attack; ordinary sidestepping is not proof the resource-restoring condition occurred.
Do not budget from World’s item assumptions
This manual describes a gauge-funded loading system. Begin with the current Wilds gauge and action prompts instead of diagnosing every failure as missing inventory stock from another game. Check the weapon’s available coating options rather than assuming every bow has every effect.
A Tracer and a Focus Fire target are related but distinct
After a Tracer hits, subsequent arrows home toward it until it explodes. Focus Fire: Hailstorm can target a wound or Tracer, with its own charge behavior. Identify which action you intend to use; merely having a Tracer loaded is not the same as having landed one on the monster.
Timed defense feeds the next sequence
A successful Discerning Dodge raises charge and replenishes stamina and Trick Arrow Gauge, with more precise timing improving recovery. That creates a resource link between defense and offense. It does not justify dodging at random solely to refill the gauge, or inventing a universal invulnerability duration.
Range is part of the coating choice
Close-range Coating increases damage while reducing range. If the intended shot is unsuitable at your current distance, changing the resource loop alone will not fix that trade. Match the coating, target and safe firing opportunity rather than choosing from an unsupported all-purpose tier list.
