Slay the Spire 2 Dowsing: Finish the Quest Without Confusing It with Fishing Rod
On this page
Applies to: Beta v0.109.0 quest, v0.110.0 reward update. Check the installed card text before following the combination.
Dowsing Rod adds the Dowsing quest card, which transforms after entering five more question-mark rooms in its documented beta form. Fishing Rod is a different relic tied to normal combats. Check the exact name before rerouting the run around the wrong requirement.

Build the useful turn, in order
- Read the acquired relic and the quest card rather than relying on the word Rod in a guide title.
- Identify the remaining quest requirement and compare it with the reachable map. Do not count rooms already passed as future progress.
- Compare the detour’s immediate risks with the delayed reward. Keep the deck able to survive the route before the quest is finished.
- After transformation, read the installed Abundance text and cost; its upgrade changed in the next beta revision.
What the plan needs
A quest card is a delayed proposition. The route needs to reach the trigger while the rest of the deck carries combat. That makes proximity and the current deck’s resilience important, even when the eventual reward looks powerful. Avoid taking a dangerous detour just to defend a previous selection; evaluate the remaining path from the current position.
A concrete comparison
If the quest requires five more qualifying rooms and the safe remaining route reaches only three, it does not finish on that route by arithmetic alone. You need a different reachable path or a later opportunity. This count is an illustration of planning, not a guarantee that every question room offers a favorable event or that all maps provide the missing rooms.
When the interaction fails
Normal fights are not advancing Dowsing
Confirm that you did not confuse it with Fishing Rod.
The reward cost differs from an old screenshot
Abundance’s upgrade changes again in v0.110.0.
The quest is progressing but the deck is losing
Compare immediate survival with the delayed payoff before continuing the detour.
Version and sources
Sources retrieved October 18, 2026. The stated branch is part of the mechanic, not an optional label. Main and beta may have different card text; do not combine values from both into a fictional build. Calculations and decision sequences are independent analysis, not a personal gameplay result, win-rate claim or guaranteed infinite.
Before adopting the route, compare the current card, its upgrade state and the encounter you need it to solve. If a required piece is absent, choose the next useful action from the existing deck rather than taking a risky reward solely to force this example.
