Warframe Orvius: Blade and Disc Sources, Crafting and the Hover Throw
On this page
The War Within awards the Orvius Blueprint. Farm two Blades from Kuva Guardians and one Disc from Kuva Jesters, then add 10 Orokin Cells, 4,000 Kuva and 15,000 Credits in the Foundry. Its suspension uses an uncharged throw; a fully charged explosion is a different attack.
Ordinary Warframes and standard quest rewards; quest and reward spoilers below.
Keep the main blueprint separate from the parts
Complete The War Within for the main Orvius Blueprint. A replacement main blueprint is available from Cephalon Simaris after the relevant unlock, but buying it does not supply the weapon components.
The craft requires two Orvius Blades and one Orvius Disc, plus 10 Orokin Cells, 4,000 Kuva and 15,000 Credits. Inspect the Foundry counter before starting the farm; one blade is only half of the blade requirement.
Farm the correct member of the Kuva pair
| Component | Enemy | Quantity for craft |
|---|---|---|
| Orvius Blade | Kuva Guardian | 2 |
| Orvius Disc | Kuva Jester | 1 |
Kuva Siphon missions provide encounters with both Guardians and Jesters. Deal with the Guardian’s protection using the post-quest mechanics you unlocked, then finish the enemy and collect drops. Killing ordinary nearby Grineer is not a replacement for the named component source.
The parts are random drops rather than a guaranteed Siphon completion reward. Count the component pickups, not the number of missions. Components can be traded, which gives you another option if only one piece remains; the main blueprint follows a different acquisition rule.

Use an uncharged throw for suspension
Once crafted, equip Orvius and practice a throw without fully charging it. Against a valid target, the disc hovers and suspends the enemy, then explodes and returns. A fully charged throw uses the charged-throw behavior instead, so holding the button longer can be the reason you never see the hover.
Check your melee and Heavy Attack bindings, especially when dual-wielding with a secondary. Start against an ordinary enemy where the animation is easy to observe, not a crowded encounter where immediate kills hide the suspension.
Why a target stays on the ground
Overguard prevents the suspension. Removing it during an already-running hover does not retroactively lift the enemy; throw again after the Overguard is gone. A target killed immediately also cannot display a useful hanging animation.
Do not diagnose either case by adding more charge time. Check the target’s state, the actual throw type and the observed animation separately. Orvius does not use the Xoris’s three-particle charge cycle, despite both weapons belonging to the glaive family.
