The 1.0 update resets the skill tree when an existing save first enters the new version. Spend the available skill points again before deciding that your equipment or combat build stopped working.

Reviewed October 17, 2026 · 1.0 release and Hotfix 1.0.0.2 source review

A returning character can still wear familiar gear while losing the skill effects that made it work. Reconstruct the intended role first: main weapon, supporting abilities and resource needs. That is a better starting point than immediately replacing the weapon or following an old damage comparison.

What to do, in order

  1. Open the skill tree and inspect available points and selected nodes before entering a difficult encounter.
  2. Choose the role the equipment is supposed to support. Restore the prerequisites for the skills you actually intend to use rather than scattering points across unrelated branches.
  3. Recheck active inputs and the relevant ability descriptions. New skill options and balancing mean a screenshot of the old tree is a reference, not an automatically valid current loadout.
  4. Test a small, familiar encounter after allocating points. Keep equipment unchanged for that comparison so a change in skills is easier to identify.

Match the situation to the right check

A previously available move is gone

Check whether its node and prerequisites are selected in the current tree. A familiar item does not itself prove a skill remains unlocked.

Several language descriptions look inconsistent

Hotfix 1.0.0.2 addresses localization for named aerial and evasion skills. Compare the installed version before treating a wording difference as a hidden stat change.

Conditions and limits

This explains the documented reset; it does not prescribe a universal best build, exact damage gain or a new maximum skill-point total.

Sources and version notes

The documented behavior comes from Keen Games’ Release trailer, changelog... everything you need to wait for tomorrow!. Hotfix 1.0.0.2 provides the later migration, world-settings and localization corrections discussed where relevant. The ordering and diagnostic comparisons are independent editorial guidance. We do not claim a personal playtest, guaranteed recovery or a measured combat result. Check later patch notes if your build differs.
