Enshrouded Saves Missing After 1.0: Local, Cloud and Migration Checks
On this page
Check the Local and Steam Cloud tabs in both character and world selection before assuming a save was deleted. A missing character can also match the migration issue described in Hotfix 1.0.0.2.
Reviewed October 17, 2026 · 1.0 release and Hotfix 1.0.0.2 source review
The first useful distinction is what disappeared: a character, a world, or both. Those are separate selections. A familiar character paired with the wrong world can look like a progress loss even when both files still exist. Write down the expected character and world names before changing anything.

What to do, in order
- Inspect both storage tabs in the character selection menu, then repeat the check in world selection. Do not judge the world list from the character list alone.
- If you find the expected entries, load the intended pair and compare one recognizable landmark or piece of equipment. A name match alone is a weaker check than the actual saved state.
- If only a character remains missing on the current build, compare the situation with the developer’s corrupted-character migration notice. The latest hotfix avoids migrating affected characters while a fuller correction is being prepared.
- Keep existing saves and backups intact. If you report the case, state which list and storage tab is missing the entry, the previous version and the installed build.
Match the situation to the right check
World present, character absent
Treat this as a character-selection or migration question. Do not delete a world that is still available just to test it.
Both names appear but the scene is wrong
Recheck the selected pair and your known checkpoint. Record the mismatch before allowing an uncertain session to replace the evidence.
Conditions and limits
The developer supports upgrading Early Access saves, but the corrupted-character case is not proof that every missing entry can already be recovered. No manual file replacement is prescribed here.
Sources and version notes
The documented behavior comes from Keen Games’ Changelog for Hotfix 1.0.0.2. The ordering and diagnostic comparisons are independent editorial guidance. We do not claim a personal playtest, guaranteed recovery or a measured combat result. Check later patch notes if your build differs.
