Pipeline overextended? Fix its extent before adding production

An overextended fluid segment needs to be divided by a pump. Inspect the pipeline overlay, place a pump between sections, supply electricity and point it toward the consumer. Adding more fluid production does not repair an invalid segment.
Find the connected segment
Hover a pipe or hold a fluid-related building to inspect the connection visualization. Follow the highlighted segment, including underground connections and branches. A long detour or distant connected branch can extend the segment even if the local machine-to-pump distance looks short.
The current official wiki describes a 320×320-tile extent bound. The earlier FFF #430 preview used 250×250. Use the installed game’s extent warning and current reference rather than copying the older preview number. Extent is not simply a count of how many pipe items you placed.
Divide, power and verify
- Locate the overextended segment using its warning and overlay.
- Split the route with a pump so neither resulting segment exceeds the permitted extent.
- Check the pump’s arrow, electrical supply and any circuit enable condition.
- Inspect fluid on both sides and the consumer’s input after the correction.
- If either segment is still overextended, inspect its other connected branches before adding another pump at random.
No warning, but the machine still lacks fluid?
Now distinguish an empty upstream supply from an output bottleneck. A pump transfers fluid in one direction and can be disabled by a circuit condition. A full upstream section with nothing downstream is a different symptom from a producer that cannot keep its own section supplied.
Check the machine’s actual fluid sockets and recipe. More pumps in series do not multiply the producer’s output. Likewise, a connected storage tank increases storage volume; it is not a substitute for splitting an overextended segment.
A controlled recovery test
Use one consumer branch as a test. Restore a valid segment, then confirm the consumer runs while the source continues supplying it. Reconnect additional branches one at a time. This keeps a second extent or supply problem from being mistaken for failure of the first correction.
