In 43.2 Normal and Ranked lobbies, matchmaking begins when the host selects Play; every teammate no longer needs to ready up first. Agree readiness before the host queues. Leadership can be delegated by right-clicking a player nameplate in the Lobby or Social tab, without disbanding the team.

Check in this order

  1. Identify the host before assuming your own ready state controls the queue.
  2. Confirm the squad is prepared, then have the host select Play. Do not rely on an unready teammate to block a Normal or Ranked queue.
  3. If another player should lead, right-click the intended nameplate in Lobby or Social and delegate host status.
  4. When organizing fixed squad numbers, let the host drag teammate nameplates. The host remains number 1.

Keep team membership and leadership separate

Changing the leader does not require disbanding and recreating the squad. If the host is offline, the update also allows another teammate to kick them. Use the relevant team-management action rather than making everyone leave merely to switch leadership.

Numbers are not always displayed

The Normal and Ranked lobby can preview in-game teammate numbers, but those numbers are not displayed with Random Matchmaking enabled. Check that mode distinction before treating absent labels as a broken drag operation. The host’s fixed number is not another reorderable teammate slot.

Tell an absent teammate what changed

The lobby exposes more status information, including a player being in another menu or away after no input. Use that signal to coordinate before queueing. A visible online state is not a substitute for the person confirming they are ready to play.

Do not apply the Normal/Ranked rule to every mode

SLB has its own lobby instructions, and Custom Match has separate host controls. An all-ready instruction for another activity does not contradict this Normal/Ranked change. Record the exact mode if you are investigating an unexpected start.
