An Electric Furnace uses electricity instead of burning fuel and does not produce charcoal. If smelting works but charcoal is missing, the furnace is not necessarily malfunctioning. Plan the ore-to-metal line and your charcoal supply as separate production needs.

Build the smallest useful test first

  1. Identify the missing result: processed ore, charcoal or both. Do not change a working smelting circuit solely because it cannot produce the other resource.
  2. Check the electrical feed and the selected furnace’s requirements. The current Facepunch item entry lists 3 rW for the furnace itself.
  3. Trace ore input and processed output independently. Confirm the destination is not blocking removal.
  4. Choose a separate charcoal source appropriate to your base and supplies, rather than adding more electric furnaces to solve a fuel-burning requirement.

A controlled example

Three furnace devices at the reviewed 3 rW each account for 9 rW of furnace load. Conveyors and other active devices belong to additional parts of the budget. This multiplication is not a complete automated-line power requirement and does not predict the time needed to process a stockpile.

Make the system serve the actual goal

Think in outputs rather than deployable counts. A metal-production station and a gunpowder-supply station can share storage goals while still needing different resource processes. Label the receiving boxes by what they should contain. That makes it easier to see whether the failure is missing production, wrong routing or simply an expectation the chosen machine never supported.

Match the symptom to the next check

What you seeWhat to check
Metal arrives, charcoal does notSeparate the charcoal process; the electric furnace does not burn fuel for it.
Ore remains unchangedCheck power and operation before investigating finished-item routing.
Processed material backs upInspect output space and the extraction conveyor rather than increasing furnace count.

Version and setup limits

The furnace-only 3 rW figure is from the retrieved item reference. Do not use it as the budget for every component connected to an industrial circuit.

Keep a note of the server and the one setting changed between observations. A modified server can differ from the default design; a historical demonstration is not a measurement of the installation in front of you. Restore the full line in stages after the isolated test works, checking the destination stock after each stage rather than assuming every new connection preserves the result.
