Changing professions? Hold the valuable shipment until the new choice is active
On this page
The Statue of Uncertainty costs 10,000g per selected skill. That skill’s existing profession bonuses disappear immediately; new choices appear that night. Sell a valuable batch after confirming the intended profession the next morning, rather than assuming it applies to the shipping bin on reset day.

Change the branch in a controlled order
- Unlock the Sewers with the Rusty Key, obtained after 60 Museum donations.
- Keep the items whose selling bonus matters in storage while planning the change.
- Pay the statue and select the skill to reset. It changes profession choices, not your accumulated skill levels.
- At bedtime, choose the level-5 branch and its available level-10 profession.
- Next morning, verify the profession before selling the stored batch.
For Artisan, choose Tiller on the Farming branch and then Artisan when eligible. Paying to reset Fishing will not make Artisan appear: it belongs to Farming. Only skills with profession choices already made appear in the statue’s menu.
The reset day is the vulnerable day
The selected skill’s existing bonuses stop as soon as you select it. The official reference specifically notes that the old sale-price bonuses do not apply to items placed in the shipping bin on that day. Avoid trying to exploit the order of overnight screens; a stored batch sold after verifying the new profession is easier to reason about.
Is a temporary Artisan switch worth the fee?
For an ordinary eligible artisan batch with total sale value B before Artisan, the profession adds approximately 0.4 × B. A one-way 10,000g switch needs more than 25,000g of that eligible base-value batch to create a positive difference after the fee. At exactly 25,000g, the extra 10,000g only matches the switch cost.
If you intend to pay again to return to the previous Farming profession, include both fees: a 20,000g round trip needs more than 50,000g of eligible base sales under this simplified comparison. Rounding and the benefits you forgo under the previous profession can change the real decision.
Do not put every product into the Artisan bucket
Raw fish use their Fishing profession rules, while Smoked Fish also benefits from Artisan. Raw Roe has no profession sale bonus; processing it into Aged Roe or Caviar changes that comparison. Identify the actual product being sold before counting a bonus.
If your batch is small, staying on the existing path may be preferable to repeated switching. For a long-term change, compare the future work you plan to do as well as one shipment: a profession that supports daily production can be worth retaining even when another profession improves a single sale.
