Use Hildir’s map table to locate a Howling Cavern in the Mountains. Geirrhafa drops Hildir’s Silver Chest. Prepare frost resistance and an escape path for his area attacks; his frost immunity makes a frost-focused weapon a poor main damage choice.

Standard, unmodded equipment and Hildir quest rules; normal portal restrictions noted where relevant.

Confirm the cavern before searching for a boss

Hildir’s registered map locations provide a better target than entering every icy cave you see. Howling Caverns are special Mountain dungeons; ordinary Frost Caves contain their own enemies and materials but do not promise this miniboss.

Carry cold protection for the approach and clear the Bats and Ulvs along the route inside. Mark the turn back toward the exit and leave spare recovery supplies outside. If you fall, a second trip should not begin with no food and no way to survive the Mountain.

Choose damage that can contribute

Geirrhafa is immune to frost and weak to fire in the documented resistance table. A Frostner hit contains more than one damage type, so it is not literally a zero-damage weapon, but its frost portion cannot do the job here. Compare a fire-capable option or another suitable damage source before entering.

Do not equate frost resistance with immunity to the entire encounter. His melee attacks include physical damage, and the area attacks still demand positioning. Repair your gear and keep recovery available rather than using the resistance effect as permission to remain in every attack.

Leave the wave’s area instead of relying on a roll

Watch for the frost cone and the ground-slam sequence. The expanding nova waves are documented as attacks you cannot solve by blocking or dodge invulnerability; move out of their reach. Start moving when the attack begins, rather than after the first wave has already reached you.

Reserve stamina for that exit. Chasing the boss with a long attack sequence can leave you standing close when the area attack starts. Use the intervals between attacks for damage and return to a position where you have a clear retreat.

Take the correct chest and trophy home

After the kill, collect Hildir’s Silver Chest and Geirrhafa’s trophy. The trophy is not the ordinary Cultist Trophy required for the Fenris Hood. Keep those two farming goals separate so you do not repeat this special dungeon for the wrong crafting ingredient.

The chest weighs 200 and cannot pass through an ordinary wooden portal under normal rules. Plan its downhill journey and transport back to Hildir. Defeating Geirrhafa also makes a related raid available; the trigger is the defeat, not simply handing the chest over at camp.
