Wraith King did not revive: mana, cooldown and Aegis order
On this page
Check both Reincarnation’s cooldown and its current-level mana cost. The dated base costs are 220/110/0, so “you always need 220 mana” is wrong for higher levels.

Identify this ability in your client: Reincarnation. Icon © Valve. Official Wraith King page.
A passive-looking resurrection still has conditions. Read the actual ultimate level and cooldown before planning to die a first time; do not apply an old fixed mana rule to every stage of the match.
What to do, in order
- Before a risky commitment, inspect Reincarnation’s learned level and whether its cooldown is ready.
- Compare current mana with that level’s cost, including mana spent or lost before death.
- If you carry Aegis too, remember the official priority note: an available Reincarnation triggers before Aegis.
- When resurrection begins, let the three-second base return resolve before expecting to act normally again.
- After returning, check the new cooldown and remaining extra-life resources. Do not assume the next death has the same protection.
Match the symptom to the cause
The icon was learned but I did not revive
Learned and ready are different. Check cooldown and available mana at the relevant moment.
I had enough mana earlier in the fight
The relevant state is not the mana you had before casting other spells or taking mana loss. Preserve the actual cost if the level requires one.
My Aegis was still there after a death
Valve notes that ready Reincarnation is used first when both are available. This can be expected behavior rather than a failed Aegis.

Apply it to one concrete situation
A level-1 ultimate has a base 220-mana cost, while level 2 lists 110 and level 3 lists zero. A player remembering only the first number may make the wrong diagnosis. Check the live level and cooldown before concluding why a death did or did not consume a resurrection.
Current base tooltip values
Values below are the unmodified fields in Valve’s dated English ability data. Slash-separated entries are listed level values, not a recommended skill build. Read the field label: damage, range, duration and percentages have different meanings. Upgrades and modifiers can change your client’s values.
| Tooltip field | Listed base value(s) |
|---|---|
| Mana cost | 220 / 110 / 0 |
| REINCARNATION TIME | 3 |
| MOVEMENT SLOW | -75% |
| ATTACK SPEED SLOW | -75 |
| SLOW DURATION | 4 |
| COOLDOWN | 180 / 150 / 120 |
Limits that matter
The current Scepter description reduces cooldown. This page does not claim every upgrade uses the base cooldown table, and it does not provide an exhaustive list of disable interactions.

What returns after Reincarnation?
Valve states that Wraith King returns with full health and mana.
How long does the return take?
The current base reincarnation time is three seconds. That interval is not the same as the ultimate’s cooldown.
