Enshrouded Storage Chest Upgrades: Expand Storage Without Emptying It

In 1.0, storage chests can be upgraded in place without first emptying and picking them up. Inspect the existing chest’s available upgrade interaction before rebuilding an entire storage room.

An in-place upgrade and moving storage are different operations. The new feature is useful when the location is already right and capacity is the problem. A room redesign still needs its own inventory plan; do not confuse that task with the capacity upgrade.
What to do, in order
- Identify the exact chest and take stock of what is stored there before changing the room around it.
- Inspect the available upgrade action and its displayed requirements on that chest. Use the current prompt rather than an old empty-and-replace guide.
- Check the required resources and the proposed result before committing. Do not assume every chest type or progression state offers the same next upgrade.
- After the upgrade, inspect both capacity and contents. Keeping the chest in the same location is useful only if you also confirm that the intended storage state remains.

Record the chest identity, current version and available prompts. The general feature announcement is not a recipe proving that every chest has every upgrade available.
You actually want to relocate the chest
That is a separate task. Do not treat an in-place upgrade as evidence that moving a filled chest follows the same rules.
Conditions and limits
The source confirms upgrading without emptying; it does not establish a free upgrade, a universal material cost or an exact capacity for an unspecified chest.
