Warframe Icebind Not Starting? Unlocks, Melica and Six-Player Squad Checks
On this page
Complete Angels of the Zariman and Whispers in the Walls, and unlock either Elite Temporal Archimedea or Elite Deep Archimedea. Claim a Cryobell at Yuvan Peak, then use Cephalon Melica’s Ring a Cryobell screen to form the six-player squad. The launch mode has no public matchmaking and allows only one of each Warframe.

Do these checks in order
- Check both completed quests and Elite access on each participant’s account. Unlocking the specified Elite option is sufficient; the note does not require completing it.
- Claim an available Cryobell from the ice pillar at Yuvan Peak. Separate having reached the location from having a usable key.
- Talk to Melica and open Ring a Cryobell. The host forms the larger party through this screen, rather than a normal four-player mission lobby.
- Invite the other players and check for duplicate Warframes. Each participant also needs to speak to Melica and enter the Cryobell flow.
- Review keys, loadouts and modifiers before voting. Do not assume that joining the location alone made everyone mission-ready.
Diagnose the stage that is blocked
Missing access, missing keys and an invalid party are different failures. If the interaction is absent, begin with account progression. If the screen opens but the group cannot proceed, inspect party readiness and duplicated Warframes before treating it as a connection problem. Write down the last successful step.
Do not use the countdown to bypass party rules
Hotfix 44.1.1 fixes a way to equip duplicate Warframes by changing loadouts during the countdown. A workaround demonstrated in an early video is therefore not a supported party composition. Agree different frames before starting the flow; do not make the entire group wait while testing an old exploit.
Key collection has a separate fix
Hotfix 44.1.2 fixes issues with the Take Cryobell interaction. If that is exactly where you are blocked, verify your installed patch and capture the prompt and response. That is more specific than reporting that the whole activity is locked. The patch does not remove quest prerequisites.
Plan for an organized activity
The mode is designed around cooperative objectives and level-999-plus enemies. A completed access checklist is not a claim that a starter loadout is ready for the encounter. Assign objective and recovery responsibilities before the first attempt, then read the mission and personal modifiers together.
