Dressmaker colour and fabric requirements
On this page
Build 443 changed how colour and fabric-type requirements account for smaller components. A previously recorded dress can therefore show a different score after the update. That does not, by itself, establish that you changed the garment or encountered a new bug.
Method: official Build 443 notes reviewed October 16, 2026, plus original troubleshooting suggestions. Not gameplay-tested. Read the developer’s announcement. Instructions may differ on another build.
What the developer actually changed
The notes describe a move away from raw panel-area proportions: small components, such as sleeves and collars, receive additional weight. Tags already used this approach. The developer does not publish the exact weights or a complete scoring equation in this announcement.
That distinction matters when reading an older guide. A method based entirely on visible fabric area may rest on a previous version’s rules. Treat its date and build as part of the explanation, rather than assuming an old screenshot predicts your current result.
A useful comparison record
Before trying to explain a result, record four things: installed build, exact requirement wording, components and materials used, and the displayed result. Keep an older screenshot alongside it if you have one. This is our suggested investigation record; it is not an additional game mechanic.
Separate a historical comparison from a new experiment. An old screenshot compared with a post-update score may illustrate a version change. Two new attempts on the same build may help investigate a design choice. Combining those comparisons makes it hard to tell which difference you are actually observing.
Change one thing, then compare
If you decide to experiment, write down the single choice you intend to vary before you change it. Record the outcome even if it contradicts your expectation. Keep the original request in view so that an improvement to one detail does not silently replace another requirement.
For example, a comparison table can contain “build”, “changed component”, “material shown in game”, “requirement text”, and “result”. Leave unknown entries blank. Do not infer a numerical weight from one comparison: other differences between garments could account for the result.
What this does not prove
- It does not establish that adding a particular collar always satisfies a requirement.
- It does not identify the best material for a named customer.
- It does not turn a visible colour into a verified game tag.
- It does not provide a percentage calculator or guarantee acceptance.
For a problem report, share the build and the smallest comparison you can document. An observation such as “these two results differ” is useful evidence. A claim about a hidden multiplier needs more support. Our worksheet keeps confirmed requirements separate from ideas you are still investigating.
