Hover over a panel in your inventory to see its mannequin-placement hint. The developer’s Build 410 notes introduced this aid and clickable component names in the sketchbook. Start there when you cannot identify a piece; do not guess its position from its outline alone.

Source reviewed October 16, 2026. This is a source-based guide, not a gameplay test. Checklists and diagrams are our own planning aids; they do not describe a verified scoring formula.

Two different placement questions

“Where does this panel belong?” and “Which way should this fabric face?” are different checks. The first concerns identifying a component. The second concerns the look of the finished garment. The official game description explains that pattern arrangement and fabric alignment affect the finished appearance, including alignment with the grain or on the bias. It does not provide a universal best orientation or a scoring multiplier.

A layout note you can reuse

Our suggested worksheet has three columns: component name, intended position, and visual direction. Copy the component name shown by the game rather than inventing a nickname. Write the position only after checking its hint. For direction, use a plain description such as “motif points toward the neckline” instead of an unexplained angle. This makes the note useful even when you return later and have forgotten your original plan.

For repeated fabric motifs, choose one visible landmark and compare neighbouring pieces against it. This is a visual planning suggestion, not a claim that the game awards points for matching a particular motif. If your design deliberately contrasts directions, record that intention too: otherwise a deliberate choice can look like an accidental mismatch during your final review.

If the result looks wrong

When asking for help, include your build, the component’s displayed name, what you expected, and what you observed. A cropped screenshot of the relevant panel is more informative than “the pattern is broken.” Do not delete your save or restart a commission solely on the basis of this checklist.

What remains unverified

We have not established an optimal cutting layout, a material-saving formula, or the effect of direction on customer scoring. Those would require separate evidence. Use this page to identify pieces and structure your checks, rather than as a promise of a perfect commission.
